The month of Iyar carries within it a quiet, powerful message.
Its name is an acronym for the words “Ani Hashem Rofecha” -
I am Hashem, your healer.
But Iyar is not only called a time of healing because of its name.
It is rooted in what happened during this time.
After leaving Egypt, the Jewish people entered the desert - a place with no natural resources, no stability, and no clear path forward. It was during this period, in the days of Iyar, that Hashem began providing for them completely - sending the manna, sweetening bitter waters, and sustaining them in ways beyond the natural.
Healing here wasn’t just physical.
It was emotional, spiritual, and internal.
They were no longer slaves, but they had not yet become who they were meant to be. Iyar became a bridge - a time of rebuilding, of strengthening, of becoming whole again.
Even today, Iyar sits between Pesach (freedom) and Shavuot (receiving the Torah). Each day is counted, step by step, through the Omer - a process of growth and refinement.
Healing, in this sense, is not instant.
It is something we move through.
